I am Doctor Nida Taufiq. I am a Pediatrician, a Certified Autism Specialist, a Certified Health Professions Educator and an Autism Mom.
My son Musa is Autistic. In 2020 after unfruitful experiences in the general and special education setup I took upon myself the sole responsibility of teaching Musa. I needed direction and guidance as to how to teach him effectively. By Allah's Grace, I found an amazing course offered by the Department of Special Education, School of Education and Human Sciences, the University of Kansas KU, USA. Now, I have a clear vision of how to teach my son and ماشاءاللہ he is making progress. You can view snippets of the techniques we use at home by following our homeschooling journey on Instagram.

The Vision
MAMA (Managing Autism with Mothers and Aunties, SMC-Private Limited) has been created with a vision to empower Pakistani mothers with the necessary tools to provide their children with ASD an evidence-based learning package. It can mean implementing the EBPs (Evidence-based practices) at home or it can mean advocating for their children in an educational setup or both. With cooperation amongst mothers and aunties a successful learning plan can be designed and implemented. By aunties I mean speech therapists, occupational therapists, teachers, helpers, nanis, dadis, phuphos, khalas, sisters and all other amazing, compassionate and resilient women in the child's life. Through collaboration and by following the child's lead we can manage/tackle the challenges that accompany a diagnosis of Autism whilst celebrating and marveling at the unique strengths that each child possesses.
The Plan
MAMA (Managing Autism with Mothers and Aunties) has been launched as an online consultation platform for diagnosis, management and follow up of children with ASD. In person consultations are also offered.
In the future I plan to add the following facilities:

In person teaching and practice of EBPs customized to your child's needs

Interactive Workshops with mothers and aunties to understand Autism and the EBPs for teaching learners with Autism

Creation of an online directory of city wise Autism Experts and Educational setups in Pakistan
